چکیده
Green leafy vegetables (GLVs) play an important role in human nutrition. In sub-Saharan African countries, GLVs are a vital source of essential micronutrients, and their consumption has long been part the cultural heritage households. Nigeria, either cooked as stew or consumed raw used main supporting dish. These have great nutritional medicinal value. It is hypothesized that providing knowledge about botanical description, benefits to consumers could improve consumption, but much existing poorly documented inaccessible. This paper aims address this gap by collating information on some Delta State, Nigeria: jointfir (Gnetum africanum, locally known Ukazi), jute mallow, (Corchorus olitorius, Malafiya), cassava (Manihot esculenta, Crantz), giant yellow mulberry (Myrianthus arboreus), okra (Abelmoschus esculentus), clove (Syzygium aromaticum) bush buck, (Gongronema latifolium, Utazi) leaves.

متن کاملQuantitative analysis of nitrate and nitrite contents in vegetables commonly consumed in Delta State, Nigeria.
Plasma thiocyanate has been reported to be high among cassava-eating populations such as that in Nigeria because of the cyanide content of cassava. Thiocyanate, which is secreted into the stomach contents of animals, has been demonstrated to catalyse the formation of nitrosamines (potent carcinogens) in the stomach from secondary amines and nitrite. The main source of the nitrite precursor in t...
